“Neurodiversity is a concept where neurological differences are to be recognized and respected as any other human variation.”

OpenSpot Theatre Company

Class Director - Traverse City (2022-Current)

Instructor (2018-Current)

OpenSpot Theatre Company has been my motivator all throughout college. This company has shaped the way I’d like to teach others, and learning from each individual student has been the best part of my experience, as no diagnosis is the same in every person.

Pond

Actor/Devisee (2019)

In collaboration with University of Michigan’s School of Architecture, Pond is Michigan State University’s third developed Neurodiverse Musical! Incorporating touch as this show’s most prominent sensory friendly element, students can touch the special fabric at certain parts of the show and engage in the activity that follows suit. Interactions include breaking open the turtle eggs, and going fishing!

Soda Pop Shop

Actor/Devisee (2019-Current)

Soda Pop Shop is Michigan State’s second developed Neurodiverse Musical. Since January of 2019, we have been through many rewrites, workshops, and adaptations before we began our tour in March of 2020. I focused my skills on choreography for this show, and the 50’s era type choreography was fun to explore. I also began to learn the basis of prop construction, working with the puppets, creating the cotton candy, and finding the most unique versions of the props were looking for so that sensory awareness can be most prominent.

Farm! A Musical Experience

Tour Manager/Devisee (2017-2019)

Michigan State’s first neurodiverse musical began in a children’s theatre course, and grew from there. 18 students spent hours learning what made us engage, and then continued to develop more research in collaboration with the College of Education to determine what would be essential to this type of work. After its development, we took it on tour to the Greater Lansing area; the first year spent as being an actor and watching the process, and then the following years as tour manager.
